Grapes were picked early morning from two parcels, a 43 year old vineyard in Somerset West as well as a 58 year old vineyard in Paar, whole bunch pressed and the juice was allowed to settle overnight. Barrel fermentation completed in old Burgundy barrels & aged on primary lees for 9 months.
This Syrah exhibits beautiful aromas of dark berry, cherry and pepper with seamlessly integrated tannins and seductive hints of mocha, earth and spice adding to the complexity, which in turn follows through on the lengthy palate.
Cabernet Sauvignon – 66%, Malbec – 21%, Petit Verdot – 13%. 50% new French oak. Components are selected from the best 5 barrels of the vintage. A fine textured and well balanced wine with firm, ripe tannins. Cassis notes are supported by lovely hints of red fruit.
