82% Syrah, 11% Grenache en 7% Cinsaut. Grenache from sandstone soil slopes at 700m above sea level. Syrah from granite in Stellenbosch and granite shale in the Swartland. Also three high altitude vineyards on sandstone. Cinsaut from shale in the Swartland. Whole bunch fermentation between 0-75% depending on the batch. Open top S/S fermenters used with pumpovers twice a day. Spontaneous primary fermentation and MLF. Wine kept on gross lees in 225L and 1000L foudre French oak for 10 months.

Grapes were picked early morning from an 1961 old vineyard in Paarl, whole bunch pressed and the juice was allowed to settlle overnight. Barrel fermentation completed in old Burgundy barrels & aged on primary lees for 9 months.
This Syrah exhibits beautiful aromas of dark berry, cherry and pepper with seamlessly integrated tannins and seductive hints of mocha, earth and spice adding to the complexity, which in turn follows through on the lengthy palate.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec & Petit Verdot. 50% new French oak. Components are selected from the best 5 barrels of the vintage. A fine-textured and well-balanced wine with firm, ripe tannins. Cassis notes are supported by lovely hints of red fruit.
